SILK have been involved in a project connected to the development of the Kent Forum Housing Strategy to look in to the housing needs and aspirations of older people in Kent. Activmobs provided extra capacity to the project. DTZ were also commissioned alongside SILK to take a more quantitative look at the issues, particularly at housing provision and planning.
The main aims of the project were:
- To understand the housing needs and aspirations of older people
- To map these requirements against current and future planned housing supply
- To make recommendations for the development of future services and housing provision
Focus groups, smaller interviews and workshops were held involving as many people as possible, to understand the issue from different perspectives. You can read more about the project in the report available to download here: Better Homes
