On 7th April, SILK attended Kent Children’s Fund Network (KCFN) ‘Step up to Participation’ conference.
The aim of the conference was to provide a learning forum on various aspects of children and youth participation, to form stronger networks and partnerships, map active participation taking place locally and share experiences and good practice. In addition it is hoped participation practices within organisations are improved through a number of hands on, creative workshops that will help build confidence, improve capacity and skills of the children and young people’s workforce.
KCFN is a new and thriving Third sector organisation in Kent, working with and for local children and young people who are vulnerable or at risk of social exclusion. Their mission is to empower parents, carers, children and young people through participation and play.
It was a great opportunity to hear about participation projects in Kent and to share ideas around the different ways to ensure that children and young people are completely involved in all decision making about projects that affect them. SILK hopes to continue the relationship with KCFN and other participation workers across Kent. For more information please contact the SILK team or the KCFN Participate by Right! team.
